The stone-built crofthouse is located just 100m from the main beach on the eastern side of the island. It has outstanding views across the sea to the isles of Berneray, North Uist and Harris.

It was renovated a few years ago, yet still retains all its original character. The upstairs is now a large open-plan attic bedroom with two double beds. The ground floor has two public rooms, kitchen, bathroom, utility room and a small double bedroom. The internal walls and ceilings are wooden-lined throughout. Furnishings and decoration are traditional.

There is an open fire and TV in the living room. The dining room has a wood-burning stove which runs a few radiators and, together with a roof-mounted solar panel, heats domestic water. The kitchen is equipped with a gas cooker, fridge/freezer and a comprehensive inventory of cooking and eating utensils. The bathroom has a shower, wash-basin and WC. There is a washing machine in the utility room.

 
 

Water comes from a nearby spring. Electricity is provided by a wind turbine with a back-up generator.

Bedlinen, towels and household cleaning materials are supplied.

The crofthouse is available from May to August as self-catering holiday accommodation for a maximum of four people. The weekly rental price is £705.

A deposit of 25% is payable on confirmation of booking, the balance is due on arrival. A full refund will be offered if, 48 hours after the scheduled arrival time, you remain unable to access the island due to adverse weather conditions.

Despite every effort, it has proved impossible to secure economically-viable insurance cover for passengers during the sea crossing to Boreray. Boat transfer to and from Otternish, North Uist is provided free-of-charge, a concession which does not form part of the rental contract. Please note that passengers (and their belongings) travel entirely at their own risk!
